I went down the rabbit hole a little bit looking into Villa Erbatium fragrances and came across their website in my search. Of course, the one that interested me the most was a Korea exclusive, but I took the chance and ordered it anyway after I kept going back to it, days later.
“Dalgona is a nostalgic handmade candy that children once enjoyed on the streets of Korea. Watching sugar melt under heat and rise with baking soda was part of the fun — a playful experience that stimulated sight, smell, touch, and taste all at once.”
The fragrance opens with the intense sweetness of melted brown sugar and caramel, then gradually softens into a warm smokiness blended with vanilla and toffee.
I can’t lie…I was REALLY looking forward to the arrival of this frag but when I paper tested, I was disappointed. I thought it was way too sweet and put it back in the box to think for a few days. A few days turned into a couple weeks and I finally took it out and gave it a skin test. MY GOOOODNESSSSS I cannot stress enough how unreliable paper testing is. On skin, this is exactly as described and exactly what I was anticipating. Yes, the opening is intensely sweet, BUT THAT DRYDOWN!! Smoky vanilla toffee 100%. It’s like the being in a candy store and smelling the smoky smell of caramelized toffee from fresh candy being made in the back. Of course it’s sweet, but there’s a smokiness to it that balances the sweet and makes it a deliciously wearable scent.
